The
SphygmoCor System, provides the following capabilities:
-
SphygmoCor Px Non-Invasive Aortic BP system, which non-invasively
derives the calibrated BP waveform at the aortic root,
-
SphygmoCor Vx Pulse Wave Velocity system, which measures the
velocity of the BP pressure wave between any two superficial artery
sites (and so gives a measure of arterial stiffness).
-
SphygmoCor Mx Non-Invasive Aortic BP Monitoring system, which
monitors the ascending aortic waveform continuously, including real time
trending of key central heart function parameters.
The
SphygmoCor Px system complements the traditional cuff sphygmomanometer
by non-invasively providing the following previously unavailable central
clinical information:
-
Evaluation of arterial stiffness and its clinical impact on the heart in
increasing patient risk of heart failure, stroke and myocardial
ischaemia.
-
Coronary
artery perfusion pressure throughout the cardiac cycle, including during
the critical period of diastole when over 95% of subendocardial
perfusion occurs.
-
Left
ventricular load, systolic “afterload”, and an index of myocardial
oxygen demand.
-
Pulse
pressure in the ascending aorta which drives cerebral blood flow - and
hence a better indicator of the risk of stroke.
-
Central
systolic pressure (as seen by the baro-receptors), often markedly
different from the cuff value.
-
Ejection
duration and other cardiac cycle timing parameters.
-
A
powerful index of subendocardial viability giving an indication of
cardiac reserve and exercise tolerance.
-
Efficacy
of drug therapies on key central heart function parameters
