ANDOR – MicrostatHiRes

A 3.4 K helium-flow, sample-in-vacuum cryostat system designed for high-resolution microscopy.

  • 4 K – 500 K temperature range
  • Quick cool-down time and low helium consumption
  • Lowest vibration of any helium-cooled optical cryostat < 20 nm
  • Temperature range: 3.4 to 500 K measured at the heat exchanger, may be extended down to 2.7 K
  • Temperature stability: ± 0.1 K
  • System may also be run with liquid nitrogen, temperature range: 77 to 500 K
  • Liquid helium consumption at 4.2 K: < 0.7 l/hr
  • Cool down consumption: 0.8 litres (nominal)
  • Room Temperature to base temperature: approx. 15 minutes with pre-cooled transfer siphon
  • Typical sample position drift at constant temperature of 4.2 K: 0.15 µm per hour
  • Typical sample position drift on cooling from 300 to 4.2 K: 13.0 µm per hour
  • Vibration measured using a scanning electron microscope with all system components securely held: better than 20 nm
  • Cryostat weight: approx 1.5 kg
